Perform the following steps:

1. Connect with the fear you feel when you think that your birth might not follow your plans. How does your body feel? What impressions come to your mind?

2. Write down your feelings and impressions on your worksheet.

3. Imagine that you are in the process of birth, and during this process comes a point when you are facing a different direction than you had planned.

4. Now look at the picture for a few moments. In it you can see yourself standing at a starting point of many paths. They all lead to the same end point, in which you are holding your baby in your arms.

5. Close your eyes, and imagine how you choose a path and then walk it. When faced with an obstacle, you do not stop but turn to a new path instead. At the end of the path you reach your destination, where you are happy, hugging your baby.

The first few times this exercise might be difficult for you. When you encounter an obstacle you might feel frustrated, but if you get used to it and practice on a daily basis you will succeed to eliminate your need to control your childbirth. This in turn will neutralize your fear and frustration, and you will know that you have your special path that will lead you to your baby.

Repeat step 1 once every week. Connect with your fear and describe to yourself how it makes you feel. Does it still exist? How powerful is it?

Notice that, thanks to your practice, your fear decreases. Remember that once you are in labor, you will be prepared for anything that might occur even if it is not in your plan.

Put the picture in a place where you can see it. This will keep it in your mind even when you´re not practicing this technique. Have it ready when you go into labor.
